Context: Daniela Retegan had a verbal conversation with Jacob Retegan (her son) at home, and relayed that it was still not too late for him to break off the engagement and cancel the wedding.
Jacob relayed this conversation to Abigail Teodorescu, who reached out to Daniela (Dana) Retegan to confront her about this. The images attached show this text conversation where Dana admits that she had, in fact, told her son this, and denies any wrongdoing by having advised him to do so. This took place a month before Abigail and Jacob’s wedding day (July 11, 2020).
Situational context: Abigail and Jacob had filed their legal marriage documents with the state in March 2020, and were already married in the eyes of the law, due to COVID restrictions and the fear that the courthouses would close due to mandates, social distancing, and lockdowns.
